Founded in the spring of 2013, the Chamber Music Society of San Francisco was born out of a collective desire to perform the great chamber music repertoire. Dedicated to bringing these masterworks to diverse audiences, CMSSF is passionate about concertizing in intimate settings, creating close connections between performers and listeners, and cultivating a relationship between music and audiences that extends far beyond the perimeter of the concert hall.
CMSSF brings together Bay Area musicians of diverse musical experience. They can be heard performing with the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Santa Rosa Symphony, Magik*Magik Orchestra, as well as many other chamber ensembles, including early music, jazz, tango, and pop.
Founding members Natasha Makhijani, Jory Fankuchen, Clio Tilton and Samsun van Loon came together through their mutual love of the late Beethoven String Quartets. As CMSSF evolves, highlights of its third season include collaboration with guest artists and performances of larger and more diverse repertoire.

Thanks to our affiliation with SF Friends of Chamber Music, your gift of support to the Chamber Music Society of SF is tax-deductible! As we grow we are working to reach out to new audiences as well as strengthen our bonds with seasoned ones. Some of the most incredible moments at performances that we have are in conversation with folks who come in never having heard Beethoven, or a live string quartet performance, and who go home and listen to the late Beethoven Quartets or Shostakovich every day for weeks afterward. The music that we bring you is music that we love profoundly – it makes us come alive, and it is a gift to be able to share that experience with you. If you’d like to make a contribution to us to help support our performances, here’s what to do:
1. Go to this link: https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/sffcm-fsp
2. Select the amount you would like to contribute and whether you’d like to make a one-time or recurring donation.

Thank you for being part of our community!
