Born in Croatia, raised in Chicago, and based in San Francisco, Ivo Bokulic is Associate Principal Violist of the San José Chamber Orchestra and also holds positions with Opera San José & Berkeley Symphony. An active freelance musician in the Bay Area and beyond, Ivo performs with groups such as the New Century Chamber Orchestra, Utah Festival Opera, Santa Rosa Symphony, San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, California Symphony, Reno Philharmonic, Marin Symphony, Oakland Symphony, Fresno Philharmonic, Modesto Symphony Orchestra, Santa Cruz Symphony, and One Found Sound. As a member of San Francisco’s Magik*Magik Orchestra, Ivo has toured, recorded, and performed with acts such as Death Cab for Cutie, Sting, Father John Misty, Gregory Porter, and Third Eye Blind. He holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Jodi Levitz. He plays a viola made in 1999 by Hiroshi Iizuka.
